The Baltic Nation Alleges Russia of ‘Shameless’ Breach of National Air Territory

Three Russian-made MiG-31 fighter jets breached Estonian territorial skies for nearly a quarter of an hour, Tallinn said.

This reported violation over the Gulf of Finland on Friday occurs during rising tension on Nato’s eastern flank, following Poland last week stated that approximately two dozen Russian drones flew over its territory. Moscow rejected claims of targeting Poland.

Russia has frequently challenged Nato defense systems during its war on Ukraine, but Tallinn complained that the missions have become more provocative in recent months.

“Russia has previously breached Estonia’s air territory four times this year, which in itself is unjustifiable. But this latest violation … is exceptionally bold,” its top diplomat stated.
“Russia’s increasingly extensive pushing of limits and rising aggressiveness must be met with a swift escalation of political and economic pressure,” the official emphasized.

Estonia’s defence ministry additionally confirmed the incursion.
