German Authorities Detain Three Suspected Hamas Members Over Planned Attack Scheme
Germany's federal authorities have revealed the arrest of three alleged members of the Gaza-based armed group Hamas, charged of planning assaults on Israeli targets within Germany.
The three individuals - including German nationals and one of Lebanese origin man - are alleged to have procured weapons and ammunition over recent months planned for use in the planned attacks, as stated by the country's federal prosecutor's office.
Arms Seizure and Arrest Details
The suspects, identified as Abed Al G, Wael F M, and Ahmad I, were apprehended in the capital on Tuesday morning, only one day before Yom Kippur, which represents the most sacred day in the Hebrew calendar.
During the operation, authorities found multiple weapons, including an AK-47 automatic weapon and multiple handguns, along with a significant amount of rounds, according to an formal declaration.
"The firearms were destined for use by Hamas in targeted attacks on Jewish establishments in Germany," the prosecutor's office declared.
Judicial Accusations and Response
The three men now face charges of preparing a grave act of violence that endangered the nation's security and membership in a foreign terror group.
Hamas, which controls Gaza and is designated as a terror group by the EU, has rejected any link to the detained individuals and described the allegations as unfounded.
In a response, Hamas claimed these accusations were designed to weaken Germany's public support for the Palestinian people and emphasized their policy of limiting activities to what they regard as their homeland.
Previous Related Incidents
This latest development comes after the trial of four Hamas operatives in the German capital last February, who were charged with planning similar assaults on Israeli sites across the continent.
The suspects are set to appear before a federal judge on Thursday, as confirmed by the chief prosecutor's office.
