Internet Connectivity Restored in the nation In the Wake of Government-Imposed Blackout

Online along with communications services are being reconnected in Afghanistan after a countrywide shutdown by the Taliban government drew broad criticism.

Correspondents said services were being restored across areas as network watchdog observers said live network data revealed a "gradual return" of online services.

The two-day outage hindered enterprises as well as flights, curtailed availability to critical aid while also fueled concerns about cutting off females for whom freedoms have been greatly reduced since the group swept to authority in 2021.

The ruling group have not given an public reason for the blackout.

Nonetheless, last month, a representative for the regional authority in the northern region of that province stated web services was restricted "in order to curb immoral activities".

After assuming power, the ruling faction have imposed multiple limitations in accordance with their interpretation of religious law.

Afghan women have explained to reporters that the web is a lifeline to the global community given that the Taliban prohibited female students older than twelve from pursuing an education.

Women's employment opportunities have also been greatly limited and in the fall, works written by female writers were taken out from higher education institutions.

Following the connectivity outage on the start of the week, the global organization said it resulted in the nation virtually disconnected from the global network. The organization emphasized that it threatened "imposing substantial harm on the Afghan people, including by undermining the economy as well as intensifying one of the most severe humanitarian situations".
