The Israeli involvement in soccer has not been included on the schedule for a FIFA governing body session in the Swiss city on Thursday.

This gathering of FIFA's main decision-making body occurs during mounting demands on soccer governing bodies to sanction Israel following a United Nations investigative panel found in a recent report that Israeli forces has committed acts of genocide upon Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Even though the issue isn't on the meeting plan, it may be addressed under 'miscellaneous'.

The Israeli national team are actively involved in European qualifiers for the upcoming global football championship, and the Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv are competing in the UEFA tournament.

Growing Calls for Action

The human rights organization is among the latest groups to call on FIFA, which manages the global tournament, and UEFA, which coordinates European competitions, to exclude the national football body from their competitions.

FIFA vice-president the football executive commented that UEFA should make the ruling.

"Above all, [Israel] is a member of Uefa, no different than I handle a participant of my region for whatever reason. They must address that," he said.

Global Tournament Qualification Standings

The Israeli team are third in their tournament bracket - managed by Uefa - six points behind top team the Norwegian squad.

The first-place finisher from every group earn direct entry for the competition, with the runners-up proceeding to the play-offs.

The next World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canadian organizers.

Worldwide Responses

The international inquiry concluded there were substantial basis to find that several genocidal acts specified by global statutes were committed since the start of the conflict in the previous year.

A panel of rights specialists at the UN subsequently urged Fifa and UEFA to exclude the Israeli squad from global competitions, stating: "Athletics must decline the notion that it is normal operations."

Israel has repeatedly refuted that their measures in the Gaza Strip amount to acts of genocide and says they are warranted as a method of national security.

Simultaneously, sporting goods manufacturer the brand said reports that it requested the Israeli Football Association to remove its logos from its team kits are "simply not true".

"After a conversation between the football association head Moshe Zuares, Reebok and the regional partner, the company changed its position to end its contract with Israeli squads, and the players' kits in international matches will feature the corporate symbol as it has remained until now," read an IFA statement.

A representative for Reebok stated it "is proud of our record as a unifier of all cultures during and outside the pitch".

The representative further stated: "We intend to persist to honor our brand's and our local licensee's commitment to the IFA. We steer clear of political issues; we concentrate on athletics."
