Brandon Thomas-Asante scored a first-half double as Coventry cruised to a five-goal win at beleaguered the home team, sending them top of the table for at least a few hours. Wednesday followers again protested against the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri.

Fast Start for Visitors

The away team began strongly when the forward produced a close-range finish in the early stages after the home defense could not clear a set-piece.

Play was halted after the first quarter of an hour when a contingent of Owls fans invaded the playing surface to protest against Chansiri, following the announcement that wage payments had been postponed for the fifth time in the past seven months.

Sustained Dominance

It appeared offside and there were strong protests from the Wednesday players, but the referee allowed the goal.

Second-Half Rout

The substitute a Coventry player scored the fourth after the 68th minute when he slotted Kaine Kesler-Hayden’s driven pass into the net after being left free at the far post. Hull protected their advantage for large periods of the second period and the midfielder was kept out on more than one occasion before the Hull goalkeeper denied the Blades when he kept out the penalty.

A Blackburn player netted his maiden strike for Blackburn to rescue a 1-1 draw against Stoke. The Blackburn team appeared to be losing after Million Manhoef scored first in the latter period. But Blackburn fought back and the scorer, who had faced heavy criticism for his role in a previous goal, lashed in a late leveller from close range.

Kargbo hit the post before the end as Rovers almost forced an improbable winner, but they will be relieved to have earned a merited draw. In contrast, Mark Robins will question how his Stoke side squandered their control of the game and they are now without a win in four league matches.

Weekend Opener

On Friday night, Wrexham earned a third successive 1-1 draw against the Blues, leading Phil Parkinson to say that his squad is finding its feet. A Wrexham player nodded the home side ahead inside the opening quarter-hour, but a Birmingham attacker leveled for the Blues within half a minute of the second-half kickoff.
