I can't bank on three years at Manchester United - Amorim
Ruben Amorim - pictured getting support after May's Europa League final defeat - says he is pleased by the co-owner's extended support but stressed that the future is unpredictable in soccer.
The Red Devils' boss Amorim feels it's significant Sir Jim Ratcliffe publicly shared his extended perspective - but notes nothing is assured about tomorrow in football, never mind three seasons.
During a discussion with The Times recently, Sir Jim mentioned it may need the manager three seasons to produce meaningful results at the Theatre of Dreams.
Coming in a period when the manager's position has been receiving close inspection after a prolonged run of disappointing results, the statements assisted in calming certain present tensions.
Yet, discussing prior to the centenary clash with traditional foes Liverpool at their home ground, the United boss stressed that the future is hard to predict in the beautiful game.
"It's truly positive to listen to that but he tells me continuously, sometimes with a message after games - but understand, I realize and Ratcliffe understands, that the sport isn't that predictable," he stated.
"The most important thing is the upcoming match. Regardless of investors, you cannot manage the next day in football."
CEO Omar Berrada has acknowledged it has needed much more time for the manager to adapt to the English top flight subsequent to his appointment from his former club last November than any person expected.
United have won 10 victories in 34 league games with the Portuguese coach. They still haven't achieved back-to-back league wins and have not ended a matchday during this campaign higher than ninth.
The worrying figures are challenging confidence in the manager among the Old Trafford faithful heading into a sequence of matches their club has been awful in for the past two seasons.
The manager stated he isn't experiencing the doubt within the organization at the club's Carrington training ground and is insistent nothing can match the expectation he puts on his players - and in certain ways, he would choose Ratcliffe to refrain from seeking to create tranquility because he fears the impact it could have on the players.
"It isn't merely something people discuss, I sense it every day," he stated. "It's certainly beneficial to receive it because it assists our supporters to understand the leadership realize it needs some time.
"But at the same moment, I'm not fond of it because it generates a sense that we own time to resolve issues. I don't want that sense in our team.
"The pressure I place on the team or upon myself is significantly greater [than that from outside]. In football, particularly at major teams, you have to show your value every matchday."
