Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Dreaming Of

We already knew that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield vehicle the community is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical car Homer built himself in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the enormous vehicle featured in the tenth season. Rather, players are getting the Simpsons' everyday beat-up four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the series. And for players who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole customization item from the series coming to Rocket League. This limited-time event will additionally feature a series of objectives to unlock more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it appears players will also receive rims featuring a TV showing the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts inspired by burning tires and Krusty Burger.
